Hey beautiful readers! I feel like this post has been a long time coming as I get so many compliments and questions about my hair it makes perfect sense for me to pop a post about it on here! Most people wonder if I do it myself, how often I have to colour it etc soooo I'm gonna fill you in on my little routine and talk all about how I keep it in the best condition possible...
Firstly I think it's really important to find a good shampoo and conditioner that completely suits your own hair type and fulfils all your needs! My hair is over-styled and over-coloured so I rely on something that gives it a moisture surge while also protecting my colour and leaving it looking shiny and healthy. I'm currently using TIGI S-Factor Diamonds Dreams and I honestly can't fault these products at all - they do all of the above while giving my mop a deep cleanse and they smell absolutely beautiful as well.
Another little tip is to only wash your hair twice a week as over-washing can strip it of oils and leave it even more dry and damaged than before, even if you are using good products. It's pretty manageable for me to do this as I don't have particularity greasy hair, but dry shampoo and hats become my best friends just before hair wash day!
I mentioned that my hair is over-styled (literally can't remember the last time I let it dry naturally) because like most people I much prefer to blow-dry, curl or use the tongs on it than let it air dry. BUT, in order to keep doing this I'm super strict on making sure I use copious amounts of heat protection on my locks.
Above are a few of my go-to faves. This Matrix Design Pulse Iron In Thermal Styling Mist is the first thing I use followed by the TIGI Flat Iron Shine Spray. I give my just-washed hair a good coating of both of these and then use a few pumps of the Phytokeratine Extreme Exceptional Cream for good measure! I brush all this through then begin my blow-dry safe in the knowledge that I've done my very best to deter any heat damage.
Once I've dried and styled my hair I always use some kind of serum to get rid of any flyways and frizz and keep it all as shiny as poss. I've been relying on this Matrix Oil Wonders Amazonian Murumuru Controlling Oil for sooooooo long now, I can't even remember how long I've had it but it's ridiculously good. I'm also a fan of using the Salon Science Reglosse Smoothing Serum right at the end of my routine because it makes my hair look super healthy and smells lush. Nothing better than catching a whiff of a yummy product when your hair's swishing around!
Eeeeeek let's talk about the pink! If you've ever had pastel or vibrant coloured hair before you'll know how quickly it fades and how much of a pain in the arse that can be. Recolouring my hair every week? Urrr no thanks.
So, what I do to make my colour last as long as possible is mix some of Bleach London's 'The Big Pink' with a load of conditioner and this Philip Kingsley Elasticizer (which is SO incredible for your hair!). I mix all the products in really well, slap it all on and leave it overnight to do it's thaaaang. I wear one of them turbie towels to stop it from getting everywhere and when I wash it all off in the morning my hair is candyfloss-ed to the extreme and feels like silk! Win-win really.
I only have to do this once or twice a month which I don't think is too bad, but like I mentioned earlier I do try to keep my hair washing to just twice a week so it lasts as long as poss!
I hope this post has been helpful to any of you thinking about changing your hair up or just looking to improve its condition. Let me know what you think in the comments and please share some of your top tips too!
